Between Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru, the new compact SUV from Mahindra costs the least in Kolkata and the most in Mumbai.

Launched just yesterday at Rs 7.90-11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India), Mahindra’s XUV300 is expected to be a strong contender in the compact SUV segment. We’ve caught wind of the on-road price lists from four major Indian cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru – showing that the XUV300 costs the most in the capital of Maharashtra, and costs the least in West Bengal's capital city. Take a look at the table below for variant-wise prices in each of the cities:

Boasting a segment-first kit (front parking sensors, heated wing-mirrors, dual-zone climate control, etc.) and the torquiest engines in its class (110hp/200Nm, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 117hp/300Nm, 1.5-litre diesel), the XUV300 vies with the Ford EcoSport directly – while also seeing competition from the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza at the lower end and the Hyundai Creta at the higher end of the segment.

Based on our review of the XUV300, Mahindra has done an excellent job of making a positioning its new model. Since the Indian carmaker is looking to provide a premium alternative to the Vitara Brezza and Nexon, it isn’t priced in the same range. Considering the segment, the XUV300 could possibly be Mahindra’s biggest seller till date.
